Pumpkin Carving

Finally! I've taken time to sit and upload pictures to the computer. Prepare youself for hopefully a lot of updates. We'll start off first with PUMKIN CARVING!

Ok, not really.  I had to sneak this picture in.  I saw craft caramels at the store and decided we wanted to make caramel brownies for a treat.  :)  The girls and I had a great time - they were in charge of unwrapping all the caramels (and they loved it!).  The brownies turned out more cake-like - but were still good.  We'll have to try them again sometime.  It's always fun to cook with the kids though!
On to the pumpkin.  This is our pumpkin (Ali picked him out!)  This is the first time we've ever carved a pumpkin!  I was a little excited, but also no looking forward to it, knowing I would be the one doing most of the work.  GROSS!!  However, it was the funnest thing we've done in a while - a great family night too!

Each of the girls (and Shawn) got to pick out a shape and design the pumpkin.  Isn't he cute?  I thought we should stop there!
But alas, we continued on.  We're all lined up, ready to see what the inside of a pumpkin looks like!
Helping scrape out the seeds (smelly and slimy.....yuck!)
Andie's turn.
Adalyn LOVED it - she would have done the whole thing.  She thought it was the coolest thing ever!
Mom concentrating on getting it nice and clean.  I tossed the spoon and just started digging with my hand.  Totally gross, but much more productive!
I laughed each time I pulled some "guts" out.  The girls would cover their faces completely grossed out.  I love having girls!
Adalyn's turn to help saw out one of the eyes.
Now it's Ali's turn.  Andie helped out too, but we didn't get a picture.
Dad's turn.  The girls had to almost beg him to help.  He was content being the camera man!  I love Adalyn's intense look - she was so into this!
20 minutes later - there is our pumpkin!  Lightening bolt eye brows, triangle and circle eyes - you get the rest!
Here he is all lit up!  Best part of the whole evening!  The girls thought it was SO COOL!!
Here's my proud little family with our little pumpkin.  (Don't you love Andie's bib?"  She was being funny."
Happy Halloween!
