We decided to try everything new - well, we didn't have much choice. So, we ordered this burger and the burger below.
We also tried sweet potato fries. Neither of us had had those before, and to be honest, we didn't really like them. We realized we had never had a plain sweet potato, it had always been doused with brown sugar and marshmallows. So, it was a new flavor and texture.
Not too bad right. Until.....I tell you what those burgers were made of!! :)
The first one was Gator....Yes, Alligator!! The burger was called Gator Hater. I actually really liked it and Shawn thought it had a funny taste.
The second one was Bison! This was our "safe" choice, and it was just fine. I thought it would have been better with BBQ Sauce.
It was definitely a fun date night - one for the remembrance book!On Saturday night we were invited to a fiends house for a fall festival. The kids had a lot of fun - and everything was so cutely decorated. They had soups, salads, desserts of ALL variety!! They also had homemade root beer and hot apple cider. It definitely help ring in the fall weather. However, the highlight of the night - too keep in theme with the weekend (well, at least our weekend) was the Opossum Stew!
Yep - you read that right! We also tried this little guy in stew.
I had to get a cute little picture - so it's not as bad to think about. If think about it like my friend LeAnn, "We're eating a part of the skunk family, who hangs from a tree" it's kind of gross - but just look at that cute little guy - he's not gross. It tasted a little like dark meat turkey, just a little more greasy!
So there you have it. All you who live out west - come down south and we'll show you a good time! (or an upset stomach) We feel great and can now say we've eaten even more exotic things. :) Happy Fall!

Ha, Ha. I love it. I had alligator several times in Louisiana... have you tried frog legs or squaerel yet?! :) (Oh, my how do you spell that?!)
What a funny post! I love the cute animal pics. David and I went to Graze and loved the Alligator! Also, I'm pretty sure I know who cooked the opposum stew... I was risky enough to try it last year when I was pregnant with Audrey. (Maybe that's why she's so cute and sweet?)
(this is me, Dawnell, by the way :)
